Alan Comeau Earns APR Designation, the Mark of Distinction for Public-Relations Professionals - 5/19/2004

Alan Comeau, APR, community relations and development director for The Acadia Hospital in Bangor, recently earned the Accredited in Public Relations (APR) designation. Administered locally through Maine Public Relations Council (MPRC), the APR is a mark of distinction for public-relations professionals who demonstrate their commitment to the profession and its ethical practice. APR recipients are selected based on broad knowledge, strategic perspective, and sound professional judgment.

"I'm pleased to welcome Alan to an elite group of only 23 accredited public-relations professionals in the state of Maine," said Michelle Clements, APR, president of Maine Public Relations Council. "His new APR status is evidence of his commitment to the strategic techniques and tools that make the public-relations field unique," Clements added.

Comeau, who has 13-years experience in public relations, earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees in speech communication from the University of Maine. He's worked for Eastern Maine Healthcare since 1992, and helped create The Acadia Hospital's award-winning "Speak Out for Kids" campaign and "Community Conversations" program. He lives in Old Town with his wife and two children.

The Maine Public Relations Council is a member of the Universal Accreditation Board, the governing body of public-relations associations that oversees the APR program.

Maine Public Relations Council is a professional association of Maine public-relations practitioners. MPRC is dedicated to the professional development of its members and a greater awareness of the role of public relations in the world today.
