Maine Public Relations Council Awards $1,000 Scholarship to College Student

Maine Public Relations Council (MPRC) has awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Chad Leighton, a student at the New England School of Communications at Husson College in Bangor. - 10/26/2005

The scholarship was open to students studying public relations, broadcasting, journalism, marketing or communalizations at any accredited Maine college or university. MPRC sent letters soliciting applications to financial-aid directors at Maine colleges and universities. Students in their junior year with at least a 3.0 GPA were encouraged to submit faculty recommendations and an essay.

Chad Leighton, who will begin his senior year at Husson College this fall, was among the top ten in his high school class at Winthrop High School in Winthrop, Maine. Leighton is majoring in Radio/TV communications and has been working for several communications companies, in addition to maintaining 3.5 grade-point average.

Jon Paradise, immediate past president of MPRC and chairman of the scholarship committee commented, ?This is an opportunity for MPRC to reach out and support its future and provide financial assistance to the next generation of MPRC professionals.?

Leighton will officially be presented with his scholarship at the MPRC annual meeting on October 7, 2005. MPRC will award a minimum of one, $1,000 scholarship and a maximum of two, $1,000 scholarships each year.
