Maine Public Relations Council Professional Development Program/ In the Eye of the Storm: Crisis Management in the Aftermath of Hurricane Katrina

A city's greatest fear and a hospital's biggest challenge were realized when Hurricane Katrina slammed into New Orleans and surrounding areas in August, 2005. -

This special three-hour program will feature a first-hand account from Linda Osborne, director of marketing and business development for New Orleans-based Touro Infirmary. Osborne will provide an overview of the hospital?s preparation prior to the storm, its response when Katrina made landfall, and how the hospital has used communications to help rebuild the hospital and the community it serves. Osborne will share what communications strategies really work when faced with a disaster.
