Maine Public Relations Council’s Annual Conference Features Former Maine Journalist Felicia Knight as Keynote
The Maine Public Relations Council (MPRC) annual conference “The Art and Science of Communication” will be held Wednesday, October 17th at the Sheraton Hotel in South Portland from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. - 9/26/2007
MPRC has more than 250 active members throughout the state of Maine. This conference attracts public relations, marketing, public information officers, and communications professionals from across the state.
Felicia Knight is the keynote
speaker. Knight is a former
Maine journalist and
communication director for the National Endowment for the Arts. She will share her unique perspective on the
important role public relations professionals play with the media.
Other featured presenters include Kirsten Cappy, the maestro behind MuggleFest, who will talk about special event planning; Gino Bona, winner of last year's Super Bowl ad contest, who will discuss buzz marketing; Nancy Marshall of Nancy Marshall Communications, will explain her branded strategic marketing communications plan known as The Marshall Plan; flyte new media founder Rich Brooks will deliver a seminar on blogs, podcasts, and Web marketing; and MaryEllen FitzGerald, President of Critical Insights, will present an overview on market research and data.
The registration fee for the annual conference is $100 for MPRC members, $140 for non-members, and $45 for students.

Before joining the National Endowment for the Arts in 2003, Knight served as communications director for United States Senator Susan Collins. Prior to that, she had a 20-year career in broadcast journalism, first at WABI in Bangor then at WGME-13 in Portland where she specialized in both political and arts coverage.
