Lightship Award
Scott Harris, Bridge Inspector for the Maine Department of Transportation was honored with the Lightship Award.
The Lightship Award is presented to an individual outside the public relations field. Recipients are recognized for their ability to interact and successfully communicate with the public and the media.
Following the bridge collapse in Minnesota, Harris led the Department of Transportation’s team inspecting Maine’s bridges. He was called upon numerous times to answer media inquires, and consistently found a way to explain the process and successfully address concerns in layperson’s terms and in a way that reassured citizens about the safety of Maine’s bridges.
