New England School of Communications Director Earns Accreditation in Public Relations

Bangor, ME- The Maine Public Relations Council is pleased to announce that Nancy Roberts, Director of Marketing Communications Program at New England School of Communications, has earned Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) from the Public Relations Society of America Universal Accreditation Board.
Roberts sought accreditation to validate her years of experience in the public relations profession. “It was a great way to test my knowledge and add to my teaching credentials,” said Roberts.
Accreditation in Public Relations is the largest and most prestigious certification program for the public relations profession. The designation signifies a high level of experience and knowledge, strategic perspective and sound professional judgment.
To achieve Accreditation, the candidate must have several years of experience in the profession, must advance through a Readiness Review (a comprehensive oral presentation of the candidate’s professional accomplishments to a panel of APRs) and successfully complete a computer-based exam that tests 60 areas of knowledge including research, strategic planning, campaign execution, ethics, law, communication theory.
Roberts is a graduate of Bangor Region Leadership Institute and Leadership Maine. She sits on the Brewer Economic Development Board, Katahdin Area Council Boy Scouts of America Board, Bangor Region Leadership Institute Alumni Committee, Literacy Volunteers-Bangor Publicity Committee and Brewer New School Committee. She also a member of the Maine Public Relations Council. Roberts resides in Brewer with her husband Joe and two children.
