Congratulations to all of the 2018 Professional Achievement Awards winners.

Paul Badeau received the Edward L. Bernays Award.

The Edward L. Bernays Award is the highest honor bestowed by MPRC to a single practitioner and recognizes a Maine public relations professional who has exhibited extraordinary achievement and outstanding leadership in the public relations profession, along with community service and unmatched professional integrity and ethical behavior. The 2018 recipent, Paul Badeau, serves on theMPRC board of directors as treasure and works as the New England marketing manager for FirstLight.

Age Friendly Saco Coordinator Jean Saunders was the recipient of the Midge Vreeland Public Service Award. The award honors the legacy of Vreeland, who was a longtime MPRC member and the founder, with her husband Stew, of Vreeland Marketing & Design. The award recognizes an individual or organization whose efforts help the greater good and embody the core principles that were held by Vreeland: integrity, commitment to community service and a willingness to advance organizations and their causes. Saunders was recognized for her volunteer efforts to improve the lives of Saco’s age 65-plus residents.

Kevin Gove, public relations manager at Rinck and awards chair on the MPRC board of directors, received the MPRC President’s Award. Gove was chosen for the award by MPRC President Linda Varrell as a member who has shown a commitment to MPRC, along with leadership and excellence in the field of public relations.

Marshall Communications Social Media Strategist and Account Coordinator Megan Crowder was the recipient of the Rising Star Award. The honor recognizes a new public relations professional who has exhibited extraordinary achievement and outstanding work. Nominees are judged on both their professional work and their community service.

The 2018 Golden Arrow Awards program received more than 50 entries for campaign and tactics categories.

The Golden Arrows recognize the best work of communications, public relations and marketing professionals, and student practitioners based in Maine. The 2018 entries were judged by industry experts from the Alaska Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.
